What is "Attar" oil?
Attar, also known as “Ittar” oil is a pure perfume oil derived from botanical and herbal sources such as flowers, herbs, spices, or barks. Attar is believed to have been named from the Persian word “itir”, meaning, “perfume”. The people of India and the Middle-East have been hydro and steam distilling this ultra-concentred perfume oil the same way for over 5000 years! These 100% pure and undiluted fragrances are free of alcohol and additives. Like a fine wine, an Attar oil actually improves with age! Traditionally in the Eastern world, it was a customary practice of nobility to offer beautiful bottles of “Ittar” to important guests at their time of departure. A truly ancient delight!
